of people from all nations, baptizing and teaching them (28:18–20). As Matthew’s last recorded word the disciples heard from their Master, such a command would have a powerful impact on them. Later, Peter apparently remembered this moment as he preached the gospel to those who had gathered at Cornelius’s home. The apostle mentioned several outstanding facts from Jesus’ ministry, including His Deity, death, resurrection, and appearances to the eyewitnesses with whom He ate and drank. Then, Peter recounted,
